Introduction

Updated: Aug 6, 2021

Hola I'm Lauren Josephine Avero, I'm an Australian twenty something year old (born in December 1999, and yes I still count myself as a 90s kid planning to live within 3 centuries). Like many of you I'm studying at the University of Wollongong doing a Bachelor of Communications and Media, majoring in Visual Communication Design and minoring in Graphic Design.

I struggled at first thinking of a particular skill that I have, however I then thought of what things I do as hobbies which I'd say is growing a skill. So based of that, some little 'skills to be', would include photography (you can check out some of my old portfolio here https://laurenavero.wixsite.com/averophotography), being a pro camper and 4wd enthusiast (which you can check out here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4tTOTh3nrez_mhvECCaIJA ) and this may seem like I'm just plugging myself but I do think these some skills to be.

And as for a skill that I frequently use and have grown and continue growing would be illustrating and designing. As you can tell from my major and minor I'm a graphic designer. And I stem this skill growth from when I was 12 going to art classes in my main town Camden with a lady called Victoria. She'd hold classes every weekend and anyone would come and we'd just all paint together. We'd paint anything we want and she'd provide tips and helpful suggestions. From drawing and painting leopards, cartoon characters, to baby pup seals.

And here I am now, illustrating and designing with a company that I do work for the Penrith Panthers, St George Dragons, Men of Leagues, an immense amount of pubs and clubs and so much more. And I couldn't be happier.

This skill not only is a hobby skill but a skill I make money from, which I love so the best of both worlds.

Excited to see where this subject takes me in terms of what It'll make me think about!

Until Next Time, Live and Laugh,
